There are any number of Chinese restaurants in Rome. But few compete with the best that Shanghai, London or New York have to offer. One of the few exceptions is this hybrid restaurant and tea room. With its five rooms done out in antique chinese style and its little secret garden, it's a lovely, quiet refuge from the urban jungle. At lunch, a series of good-value meat, fish and vegetarian set meals are offered, though you can also dine à la carte; dinner is exclusively à la carte. Specialities include Peking duck, dim sum and wok-tossed tuna with Sechuan pepper. There's a good selection of wine and craft beers, but my advice is to give the liver a rest and let tea sommelier Jiang Yan guide you through her 'Tao of tea' tasting menu. Reservations recommended for dinner, not necessary for lunch.
